Sponsoring Parents and Grandparents
Are you living in Canada and planning to sponsor your parents or grandparents? The government has now made the process easy and fast.
There are several phases and formalities you have to complete if you want to sponsor your parents or grandparents. Before that you need to check if you are eligible to apply for the same or not.
Here, you know who is eligible?
- If you are Invited to Apply -The Canadian government randomly selects the sponsor from all the applications they receive, and invites them to apply.
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be living in Canada
- You should be a Canadian citizen, a permanent residence of Canada, Or you should be registered as a per Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
- It is necessary that you have enough money to support the person or persons you want to sponsor and for that you will need to submit your proof of income.
If you are not invited by the government to apply and want your parents or grandparents to come to Canada, then you can apply for a Super Visa which will allow them to stay in Canada up to 2 years at a time.
